About Dr. Kandil
Dr. Emad Kandil is Chief of General, Endocrine, and Oncological Surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine and an experienced scientist in translational research who takes pride in being able to take research from bench to the bedside. His research team focuses on deciphering the molecular mechanisms underlying poor prognosis and drug resistance of advanced thyroid cancer. Dr. Kandil is interested in active surveillance for thyroid cancer, and is currently collaborating with a team at the National Institutes of Health to identify a panel of genes that can determine which patients with thyroid cancer can avoid surgical intervention. He leads the Kandil Thyroid & Parathyroid Ablation Institute, offering radiofrequency ablation, microwave ablation, thyroid embolization and parathyroid ablation alongside conventional thyroid and parathyroid surgery.
