About ATLAS

Thyroid health is complex.
Understanding it shouldn’t be.

ATLAS — AI Assistant for Thyroid Learning, Analysis, and Support — is a free platform for every thyroid patient and their family. Whether you just received your first ultrasound result, are navigating a cancer diagnosis, managing a chronic thyroid condition, or simply trying to understand what your doctor told you — ATLAS is built for you.

Our Mission

Information that meets you where you are.

The thyroid health journey rarely follows a straight line. Some patients are newly diagnosed. Others have lived with thyroid nodules for years. Some are facing a surgical decision. Others are watching a nodule and wondering whether to worry. ATLAS was built to serve every one of these patients — not just those at one moment in the journey.

Our goal is simple: give every thyroid patient access to the kind of clear, honest, clinically grounded information that used to be available only in the exam room of a specialist.

“After more than 20 years focusing on thyroid care, the pattern became impossible to ignore: patients arrived at appointments having spent the night searching the internet, armed with incomplete information and a lot of confusion. ATLAS was built to change that.”

Bridging deep clinical authority with advanced AI engineering.

John P. Sabra, MD FACS

John P. Sabra, MD FACS | Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Dr. John P. Sabra is a veteran endocrine surgeon and clinical innovator with over two decades of experience navigating high-stakes medical environments across military, corporate, and specialized surgical sectors. Board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons (AAES), his career is defined by an elite operational discipline. He served as a highly decorated U.S. Navy trauma surgeon, orchestrating critical fleet surgical response teams during international deployment operations, before co-founding and scaling premier elective surgical practices in Austin, Texas. Parallel to his clinical tenure, Dr. Sabra serves as the Chief Medical Officer at the Circuit of the Americas. In this role, he directs the complex, high-velocity medical infrastructure at the pinnacle of global motorsports, including Formula 1 and MotoGP.

Throughout his twenty-plus years in clinical practice, Dr. Sabra identified a critical systemic failure in the patient journey: the profound gap between dense diagnostic data and patient understanding and care delivery. Driven by the conviction that the future of medicine belongs to patients who actively own their healthcare journey by leveraging specialized, clinically grounded technology, he founded AtlasThyroid.ai. He bridges the gap between deep clinical gravity and advanced technology, having engineered the initial platform architecture end-to-end to translate complex results into actionable clarity.

As CEO, Dr. Sabra combines his medical authority with cutting-edge vertical AI development to establish a highly defensive, surgeon-vetted clinical infrastructure. By anchoring a curated, peer-reviewed network of elite specialists to a safe, translation-layer AI model, he is positioning AtlasThyroid.ai at the forefront of this specialized market. Under his leadership, the platform is expanding past traditional health-tech boundaries, offering institutional-grade compliance and setting a highly scalable new frontier for agentic healthcare AI that excites patients and physicians alike.

Mary Patton | Founder & Chief Operating Officer

Mary Patton is a veteran healthcare executive and commercial strategist with over two decades of experience scaling high-performance organizations across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and health-tech sectors. Her foundational expertise spans corporate leadership roles at industry giants like Abbott Laboratories, UCB Pharma, and Daiichi Sankyo, where she spearheaded high-impact market entry strategies, managed large regional footprints, and drove the multi-billion-dollar commercial launch of market-defining clinical assets like Humira. Her extensive tenure operating at the intersection of complex biotech ecosystems and clinical networks makes her a formidable force in healthcare operations.

A proven venture builder, Mary’s career is defined by her ability to architect scalable corporate infrastructure, drive commercialization planning, and guide early-stage health enterprises to successful institutional liquidities. As a founder, executive director of capital development, and advisory board member, she has repeatedly bridged the gap between regulatory constraints and market adoption, successfully building and scaling health-tech and biopharma platforms from early inception through to successful high-value exits.

At AtlasThyroid.ai, Mary oversees the company’s day-to-day operations, financial strategy, and enterprise expansion. By aligning cutting-edge multi-agent AI engineering with rigorous data governance and verified provider networks, she ensures the company is structurally optimized for rapid commercial scale. Mary’s institutional insight and operational discipline provide a robust, investable foundation for AtlasThyroid.ai, transforming a groundbreaking technological frontier into an institutional-grade, highly scalable AI platform.

Melina Kopischkie

Melina Kopischkie | Chief Technical Advisor & Development Lead

Melina Kopischkie is a data scientist and systems architect working in multi-agent AI. She holds a B.S. in Biophysics from Texas Christian University and an M.S. in Data Science from the University of Colorado Boulder — a combination that pairs a structural understanding of biological systems with hands-on AI architecture. Her work centers on multi-agent workflows, production automation frameworks, and machine learning pipelines.

At AtlasThyroid.ai, Melina leads the optimization, scale, and deployment of the platform’s agentic backend. She rebuilt the multi-agent coordination layer in LangGraph, cutting latency and token cost in the process. She is currently building the platform’s retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipeline — vector embeddings over a library of surgeon-vetted, peer-reviewed clinical articles and hundreds of simulated clinical scenarios — so that the patient-facing conversation stays anchored to cited medical sources rather than model guesswork.

The through-line of her work is infrastructure that is safe, scalable, and auditable: the engineering that turns a promising prototype into something a healthcare institution can actually put in front of patients.

The questions patients ask in the exam room are the same questions ATLAS answers online. What does my TIRADS score mean? Do I really need a biopsy? What happens if my result is indeterminate? Is surgery my only option? ATLAS exists because every patient deserves a clear answer to every one of those questions — not just the ones who happen to have a great specialist nearby.
